SCAA BARISTA CERTIFICATION - LEVEL 2

The SCAA Barista Pathway Level 2 course presents practical and advanced techniques that aid students in their pursuit of espresso mastery. Students will gain valuable expertise in the craft of great coffee drinks while developing real world skills in customer service techniques and on-the-bar efficiency. This course consists of 10 hours of classroom time, a practical exam, and a written exam. Students are required to obtain certification for the SCAA Barista Pathway Level 1 before taking this course. 

For your convenience, we offer the Barista Level 2 course together with SCAA Foundation courses and Barista Level 1. Course schedule varies depending on the lab you are attending. 

 

Barista Level 2 includes the following classes:

  • CP201: Grind, Dose, Tamp Extract
  • CP202: Espresso Bar Efficiency & Workflow
  • CP203: Milk Essentials & Latte Art Practice
  • CP204: Espresso Machine Preventive Maintenance
  • CP290: Level 2 Certification Written Test
  • EXM_BW2: Barista Level 2 Written Exam
  • EXM_BP2: Barista Level 2 Practical Exam

REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES FOR LEVEL 2

  • PREREQUISITE: Students are required to obtain certification for the SCAA Barista Pathway Level 1 before taking this course.
  • REQUIREMENT: Candidates must complete the entire Level 2 course and testing within 3 years.

What kind of experience do I need to do well in this course? 

Barista Level 2 focuses mostly on workflow efficiency and latte art consistency. During our classes we give students a lot of opportunity to practice and learn tips and techniques from experts. Although, much practice time is given, we recommend that if you can, you should practice doing the different latte art designs prior to taking this course.
